I’ve noticed in my Christian walk that we have the knack of putting our own stumbling blocks in our paths, causing us to trip in our walk with Christ. The more we let the things of this world in, the more stumbling blocks we make for ourselves. It gets to the point sometimes that it seems like we are tripping and falling more than we are walking.
For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Pro 24:16
It is not the tripping and falling (over many times our own stumbling blocks) that makes us fall into mischief, taking us off the path of following Jesus. It is the not rising back up again after the fall that makes us fall into mischief. Face the facts we are all sinners, and that doesn't change because we accept Jesus as our saviour. What changes is we no longer need to pay the price for our sins, that price was paid for by the shed blood of Jesus.
And when he had called the people [unto him] with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Mark 8:34
Jesus tells us to pick up our cross and follow Him. Remember Jesus fell carrying His cross. What makes you think you are stronger than Him? The sad hard truth is you will fall when following Jesus. Falling is not the wicked part, it is the not getting back up again that makes it wicked. So when you fall, and you will fall, get back up and place your eyes once again upon Jesus and follow Him. Each time you get back up pray that the time between falls grow farther and farther apart.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19
Now Jesus was saying this to Peter, and Andrew but it applies to us today. Jesus commands us to follow Him. And though we will trip and fall many times in that walk, we need to just keep getting back up and brush the dirt off our knees. We then need to put our eyes back upon Jesus and start following again. And if we are faithful in getting back up and follow Him He will give us the strength to take up our cross, and He will make us fishers of men.

In today's world it seems in trying to follow Jesus falling is all we do thanks for reminding me it is the getting back up that counts
What I get out of this statement is "More of Jesus and less of me" but I always sin and fall. But every time I get back on track I improve, this is encouraging! thanks for lifting my spirits!
"Remember Jesus fell carrying His cross." Reference?
the truth shall set us free and jesus is truth for he is the word and was made flesh and dwelt among us. falling, stumbling, and perhap's falling so far down at times, our lord jesus the christ's hand's are alway's there to lift you up again as long as you " cry out to jesus ". we will sin and fall everyday of our life here in earth and therefore that's why jesus said we must take up our cross daily and remember, we must repent from our heart not just our lip's. bernie, 40 years ago we discussed this and as the bible states, this is a fallen world and we shall have tribulation's in this world buit fear not and take joy in knowing that jesus has overcome this world and therefore as long as we keep looking upon the kingdom of god, all things shall be added unto us that's in the will of god. THANK YOU BERNIE, I LOVE YOU MORE THAN WORD'S COULD EVER EXPLAIN.

Thanks James, I love you to brother. I thank God for God, and for becoming flesh to save us from ourselves. It is a good point you made, it is Jesus that is always there to lift us back up when we fall, if we cry out to him. If we had to get back up on our own when we fall into sin, we all would still be laying there in the ditch, getting muddier and muddier. Is muddier a word or did I just make that up! Oh well you know what I mean.
